ATLANTA, GA & FRESNO, CA — Bohiney Magazine, now holding the #3 spot on Earth’s leaderboard of beloved satirical publications (just behind The Onion and global disinformation), is proud to announce the hiring of Jasmine Carter, a Southern satirist with the comedic timing of a Baptist preacher and the charm of a peach cobbler with something to prove.
Jasmine brings to Bohiney her sharp voice, Southern wit, and a writing style that’s equal parts Chris Rock and Paula Deen after a political awakening.
Fried Grits & Fighting Words
Born and raised in Atlanta, Jasmine grew up roasting local politicians with the same tone her family used for Sunday gossip. A product of the HBCU circuit and the Atlanta comedy underground, she earned a dual degree in Political Science and Unfiltered Shade. Her senior thesis — “You Might Be a Senator If You’ve Never Paid for Your Own Lunch” — is still considered state evidence in Georgia.
Before joining Bohiney, Jasmine wrote for several underground humor zines, ran a TikTok parody court show, and hosted the podcast “Bless Your Mess: Southern Politics for Northern Nerves.”
The Bohiney Brain Trust Grows Thicker and Slicker
“She’s the only person I’ve ever met who can explain the Supreme Court through a barbecue metaphor and somehow make it accurate,” said Alan Nafzger, Editor-in-Chief of Bohiney. “Jasmine has that rare ability to take something infuriating and make it hysterical — without ever losing the sting.”
New Work on the Way
Jasmine’s debut piece for Bohiney, “The Tennessee Senator Who Mistook His Campaign Bus for a Brothel”, went viral in 24 hours and was cited in a state ethics complaint as "excessively vivid."
She will soon be releasing:
“How to Politely Curse in Church During Election Season”
“Y’all Means All (Except When We’re Redistricting)”
“Sweet Tea and Slander: The History of Gossip as Political Resistance”
She’s also launching The Gospel According to Jasmine, a weekly Bohiney column covering news headlines with the sanctified heat of a Southern revival tent.
